The University of Macau (UM) Centre for Chinese History and Culture kicked off its lecture series ‘Famous Lectures by Famous Teachers.’ The first lecture was recently held at Macau Baptist College. Prof Zhu Shoutong, head of UM’s Department of Chinese Language and Literature who is also a Pearl River Scholar, was the keynote speaker. He discussed the contemporary significance of Chinese traditional culture. The talk attracted more than 300 high school teachers and students as well as members of the general public. The lecture series is organised by UM’s Centre for Chinese History and Culture with assistance from local secondary and primary schools.
