To Mark the 102nd Anniversary of the May fourth Movement and the 40th Anniversary of the University of Macau, the 23rd University of Macau Students’ Union Youth Leader Summit was held at the University Hall on 27 April 2021. Student leaders at the meeting come from more than 70 colleges and universities of the Greater Bay Area and areas along the Belt and Road. The theme of the summit is “The Greater Bay Area and Creative Economy”.
Professor Zhu Shoutong, the Director of Centre for Chinese History and Culture of the University of Macau, was invited to be the guest speaker and delivered a speech on “Cultural Advantages in the Socio-Economic Landscape of the Greater Bay Area”. Professor Zhu shared that the culture of the Greater Bay Area embodies the mixed characteristics that transcend geographical limits. China’s modern maritime vision and enlightening culture are close to the culture of the Greater Bay Area. The lecture was illuminating and students positively raised questions afterwards.
Many guests attended this summit including Gou Renmin, Deputy Minister of Education and Youth Work Department of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Macao S.A.R., Teng Sio Hong, Vice Director of the Education and Youth Development Bureau of the Macao SAR Government, Billy So, Vice Rector of the University of Macau and student leaders from more than 70 colleges and universities.
