The Inaugural Meeting and the Flag Presentation Ceremony of the First Chinese Culture Promotion Ambassador Team were successfully held

On November 22, 2021, the fourth Macao Forum on Chinese Culture and the Inaugural Meeting of the Chinese Culture Promotion Ambassador Team were successfully held in the Cultural Building (E34) of the University of Macau. Considering that the pandemic situation is still continuing, in order to cooperate with the pandemic prevention work of the Macao SAR government, the meeting was held simultaneously in a combination of online (zoom) and offline.

Before the Flag Presentation Ceremony, Mr. PANG Chap Chong, Dean of Students, Student Affairs Office of the University of Macau, was invited to introduce the Chinese Culture Promotion Ambassador Team. At the same time, the meeting also had the honor to invite Mr. Ung Choi Kun, President of the Macao Wisdom Humanities Encourage Political Association, Mr. Wu Zhiliang, President of the Macao Foundation, Mr. Si Ka-lon, member of the Macao Legislative Assembly, Mr. Song Yonghua, Rector of the University of Macau, and Mr. Lei Pui Lam, First Vice Chair of the University Council of the University of Macau, to serve as advisers of the Chinese Culture Promotion Ambassador. Subsequently, Professor Zhu Shoutong of the CCHC of the University of Macau issued certificates to the three advisers and nine supervisors present on that day.

Once the Chinese Culture Promotion Ambassador activity was launched, it received enthusiastic applications from all parties. After all levels of selection, more than 120 students and public have become the first Chinese Culture Promotion Ambassadors. These ambassadors formed ten teams, namely: 篤行 (to behave sincerely), 慎始 (to be careful about the beginning), 弘毅 (to have a broad and strong mind), 行健 (to walk vigorously), 克勉 (to work hard), 效哲 (to learn from the sages), 謙益 (to be modest), 成思 (to think deeply and deliberately), 致遠 (to be committed to lofty ideals), 修遠 (to move forward determinedly). And the representatives of the ten teams came to the stage on the day of the meeting and received the flags from the distinguished guests. After the Flag Presentation Ceremony, Mr. CHEANG Neng Ian, Deputy Director of the CCHC of the University of Macau, introduced the work responsibilities and follow-up activities to the ambassadors in detail, and gave them high expectations. Finally, the Inaugural Meeting of the Chinese Culture Promotion Ambassador Team and the Flag Presentation Ceremony were a complete success in a harmonious and happy atmosphere.

The Successful Holding of the Macao Forum for Chinese Culture and the establishment of the Chinese Culture Promotion Ambassador Team

On November 22, with the charming autumn scenery of Macau SAR, the opening ceremony of the 4th Macao Forum for Chinese Culture was successfully held. It was co-organized by Centre for Chinese History and Culture, University of Macau and the Think Tank of United Citizens of Macao, and was Witnessed by the guests from all over the world. Under the background of the whole world experiencing the threat of COVID-19, the theme of the forum was Openness and Inclusiveness of Chinese Culture. The forum simultaneously conducted online and offline speeches, and has attracted more than 60 experts from the field of history, philosophy, literature, and art at home and abroad to join the discussion.

The Plan to Cultivate the Masters of Humanities & Social Science Education Completed Successfully

The Macao Base for Primary & Secondary Education in Humanities & Social Sciences has been actively promoting the teaching activities of the humanities society in Macao, and is striving to improve the excellent qualifications and abilities of Macao teachers through classroom and various extracurricular lectures, guidance and activities. To this end, the Macao Base for Primary & Secondary Education in Humanities & Social Sciences hopes to jointly organize the Professional Training Plan for Teaching Personnel of Humanities and Social Sciences with the Macao Education and Youth Development Bureau to further improve the knowledge and ability of primary and secondary school teachers in Macao to teach and disseminate humanities and social sciences.
Professors from the University of Macau and famous experts and scholars from Macao will be invited as instructors. The training program aims to improve teachers’ knowledge of Humanities and social sciences education and objectively evaluate students’ academic achievements. The students are expected to be in-service teachers in Macao.

Mr. Ung Choi Kun’s “Patriotism” series of activities: Dialogue with youth

The “Dialogue with youth, Mr. Ung Choi Kun’s series of activities on Patriotism”, which was jointly organized by the Centre for Chinese History and Culture of the University of Macau, the Macao Wisdom Humanities Encourage Political Association and the Great Bay Area Ceramic art Collection and Exchange Association, was held at the Cultural Building (E34) of the University of Macau on November 8, 2021.

This year is the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China. Mr. Ung Choi Kun’s series of calligraphy exhibitions on “Telling China’s Stories” innovatively publicizes the achievements of China’s development and the successful practice of “one country, two systems” in Macao. Meanwhile, it leads contemporary young students to understand and integrate into the development of the country through communication and aesthetics, and strengthens their understanding and feelings of Chinese culture, the country and Macao.

The event is divided into three parts. The first part is the dialogue between Professor Zhu Shoutong, director of the Centre for Chinese History and Culture of the University of Macau, and Mr. Ung Choi Kun, president of the Macao Wisdom Humanities Encourage Political Association. They had a conversation on the production technology of ceramic art, Chinese traditional culture and other topics. Professor Zhu also introduced to Mr. Ung Choi Kun the “Chinese History and Culture Promotion Ambassador” activity of the CCHC, and invited Mr. Ung to take the consultant position of this activity. And Mr. Ung, based on his own experience, introduced ceramic art to the audience and how ceramic art is related to telling China’s stories and Macao’s stories.

The second part is the audience interaction. The students from University of Macau seized the valuable opportunity to communicate with Mr. Ung Choi Kun, asked questions enthusiastically and received kind answers from Mr. Ung.

The third part is that Mr. Ung Choi Kuan guided guests and students to see the calligraphy exhibition of patriotic stories and feelings. Through the exhibition, the students saw the great achievements in China’s development and the prosperity and stability of Macao after its return.

Guests attending the event included Mr. Ung Choi Kuan — president of the Macao Wisdom Humanities Encourage Political Association, Mr. Tian Weiping — chief editor of the South China Quarterly of the University of Macau, and Mr. Yeung Siu Kwai — associate professor of the Faculty of Education of the University of Macau.
